We will have practice as usual on Tuesday but there will be no practice on Thursday during the Thanksgiving holiday. We will send out a suggested workout or Turkey Trot at a later date.

Nationals Declaration

Great job to all who competed today! We had a ton of personal bests and saw some really great individual and team races happen. We are really proud of the way all of our athletes raced together as a team, winning four of the eight team regional championship races, and are excited to be sending eight teams to Nationals. Everyone has a lot to be proud of.

In preparing for sending our team to Nationals, we need everyone that ran this weekend to declare if they plan to attend Nationals or not.  For the declaration process, please follow the steps below even if you don't plan to run Nationals. This is very important and needs to be taken care of ASAP.

The spots to fill nationals teams will be offered in descending order based on regionals finish.  If anyone who has qualified as part of a team for nationals turns down their spot, the spot will be offered to the next person on our list.  To declare yourself for nationals please follow the steps below.

Nationals Declarations

NOTE ABOUT QUALIFICATION:

Note, only those who ran the state meet this weekend are eligible to run at Nationals. In order to qualify for Nationals you need to be in the top 30 individually or one of the top 5 teams. Each team that we qualified can have up to 8 people on it. I does not matter which BTC team you were registered under for the regional meet. If we qualified a team and you were in the top 8 BTC finishers, you have first rights to the team spot.

Step 1: Check Qualifiers List - BOYS LIST / GIRLS LIST

On the Qualifiers List, all names highlighted in GREEN are currently qualified for Nationals as part of a team. All names not highlighted are not currently qualified, but will be offered a spot on the team in the order they appear if anyone qualified declines their spot at nationals. Names listed with NO under Declaration are either ineligible or have turned down their spot.

STEP 2: Declare Yes or No for Nationals - CLICK HERE

Enter your name and yes or no declaring your plans to attend Nationals.  As everyone declares, we will update the qualifiers list (may have a couple hours delay in updating once you declare).  If you are someone on the waitlist, you can get an idea of your chances of getting bumped up as people in front of you declare.  If you have multiple children, fill out the declaration for each of them.

STEP 3: Nationals Payment-

Entry for Nationals is $21. Payment for Nationals will be sent out after initial declarations.

USATF National Meet (Saturday, December 14th)

Where: Yahara Hills Golf Course

Schedule: Races every 30 minutes starting with Girls 8&U @ 9:00 AM

Travel: Each family is in charge of their own travel to and from Nationals.  Most of the coaches and team will travel down on Thursday and return Sunday, but feel free to make alternative plans as long as you will be there for the race on Saturday!

Flights: Flights to Madison are fairly expensive (550+ roundtrip). Flights to Milwaukee are significantly cheaper ($300-350) and is about an hour and 20 minutes outside of Madison. That is the most recommend method of travel.Nationals travel can be a good opportunity to use airline companion tickets if you have any of those as well.

**Flight Discounts** - Once you have a USATF number, you can get 10% off Delta and United flights.  Discount Page

If costs are an issue, please email youth@bowermantc.com to inquire about Youth Nationals Scholarships. We do not want cost to be an issue for an athlete wanting to attend Nationals.

The deadline to complete STEP ONE and TWO is End of day Nov 8th.

State, Regionals, Nationals Qualification Process

State meet is November 16th in Monmouth, OR – this is the qualifier for regionals  – The kids will run separate races in two year age groups (shown above). Most of our kids will qualify (top 35 individuals and top 5 teams in each age group)

At the state meet we will spread the best kids between 2 or 3 teams to maximize the number of teams we qualify for regionals.

The regional meet is November 23rd in Eugene, OR – this is the qualifier for the Nationals meet on Dec 14th in Madison, WI. Probably about 50% of our kids will qualify from regionals to nationals. The top 30 individuals and top 5 teams advance in each age group.  We will likely qualify a team in every age group.

At the regional meet we will field our strongest teams with selection based on finish position at the state meet.

At the national meet we will field our strongest teams with selection based on finish position at the regional meet.

More information will follow in the coming weeks but this is an informative document to look over the next few weeks.

National Hotel Block:

JO National Championships are on December 14th in Madison, WI. We have reserved a hotel block in the area and will have more details coming soon. You are welcome to book your own accommodations if you please. It is not a requirement to book travel with the team. However, we find it great for the team to all be located in the same spot. Again, expect an announcement soon.

FINAL PDXC Championship BTC Athlete Entries and Club Updates

BTC Parents,

Please check that you have registered your athlete on our list here. If you do not see their name, please let me know immediately. If you missed the race deadline and you do not see your athlete’s name, please let me know.

Additionally, all athletes must have the waiver here filled out by race day. You can check to see if a waiver has been accepted for your athlete at the meet website here on the left hand toolbar.

**VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW**
Due to the large participation size of PDXC the race organizers have added an additional boys and girls “little champs” race. The races have largely been separated based off age. If you do not agree with or cannot make the race your athlete is in, please speak with me tomorrow at the race and we can make changes.

Ideally the breakdown for the three divisions would be as follows:
Superchamps: Boys (sub 12:30), Girls (sub 13:30)
Champs: Boys (12:30-15:00), Girls (13:30-16:00)
Little Champs: Boys (15:00+), Girls (16:00+)

We want to make sure everyone has a good racing experience so please try to understand and follow the above goal times run when it comes to seeding in each race. If your athlete has a time that does not fit with the division they are in, again, speak with me tomorrow at the tent and we will get it sorted there.

Top 50 Superchamps, 25 Champs and 25 Little Champs all get medals.
